Rudy Giuliani - Exactly What We Don't Need

Tuesday, July 10, 2007

What is Rudy Giuliani running on? Isn't it just the fact that he was in NYC on 9/11? So were 8 million other people, does that qualify them to be president?

Let's take a look at where Rudy Giuliani stands on the issues:

Terrorism

His rhetoric on the "War on Terror" is very similar to the current administrations. Do we really want more of the same? The Bush administration has been a monumental failure in all regards. To continue on the same path would be a disaster. On his website he states in regard to terrorism; "weakness only encourages aggression," I guess this means he hasn't read those books recommended by Ron Paul? If weakness encouraged aggression then Switzerland would have been the country getting attacked and not America and the UK.

What really encourages terrorism of course is imperialism. It's time that America turned away from trying to control the Middle East and towards trying to improve our own country. Giuliani is committed to "staying on offense against terror" according to his website. This is of course will just continue the never ending circle of violence while continuing to create new terrorists. The Iraqi war has been a boon for terrorists. Think about how easy it is to recruit terrorists when they have such good evidence of how evil America is?

The best way to stop terrorism is to stop giving people a reason to hate us in the first place.

And guess what: They don't "hate us for our freedoms," that is nothing more than brainwashing. They hate us because of our policy of intervention in the Middle East.

Iraq

I don't see how a candidate who doesn't understand that the Iraq war is a complete and total disaster that must be abandoned immediately could even be considered for president. Rudy G's comments on Iraq are almost exactly the same as Bush's. Why would we elect another Bush? For God's sake please tell me America wouldn't elect Bush for a 3rd term!

Judges

This is another important issue. The Supreme Court sets the laws in many cases. George W. Bush has unfortunately been able to appoint 2 Supreme Court justices so far. This may be the best reason (of many) to vote Democrat in the general election in 2008.

Abortion

Appropriately enough it's the one issue that Giuliani is right on (he's pro choice) that will probably end up sinking him in the Republican primaries.

Health Care

Health Care is not even listed as one of Giuliani's issues in his "12 Commitments to the American People." Our health care system is absolutely unacceptable and no man (or woman) should be considered for the presidency who is not dedicated to reforming the system. Over 40 million Americans have no health insurance and over another 40 million have minimal health insurance. On top of that many people who think they are covered well by their health insurance learn that they are not when they get sick. The health insurance industry is corrupt to it's core and can never be trusted. Do you really want to leave your health, your livelihood up to a corporation that has nothing but profits (and cutting your coverage any way they can) in mind?
