Americans Approve of President Obama Ending Iraq War

New PPP polling indicates that President Obama’s ending of the Iraq War has strong support among Americans with 64% approving of the complete withdrawal and only 28% against it.

Among Democratic voters support for ending the Iraq War is sky high (88%) and it’s also very strong among independent voters (66%) but among those who support the far right wing Tea Party only 27% support ending the Iraq War vs 58% opposed.

And it’s because of this Tea Party opposition to ending the Iraq War that the leading Republican candidates for President have criticized Obama for doing so. It seems that Mitt Romney, Herman Cain, Rick Perry, & Newt Gingrich are running for President of the Tea Party instead of President of the United States.

According to a Gallup poll support for the Iraq withdrawal is even higher: 75%.
