An Obama Minute Is Today At 1 PM Eastern Standard Time

Barack Obama supporters are attempting to break a fund raising record today. The goal is to raise $1,000,000 in a single minute (at 1PM EST.) This fund raising event was organized by the grassroots (and not by the Obama campaign.)

Obama’s fund raising prowess has been one of the most impressive things about his campaign. He raised $41 million dollars in March while Hillary Clinton raised $20 million and John McCain raised $15 million during the month.

Even more impressive than the overall total amount of money Obama has raised, is the amount of people that have donated to Obama’s campaign. So far over 1.3 million Americans have donated to Obama’s campaign. In the past, most presidential candidates received the majority of their donations from the very wealthy (and that is still the case for Hillary Clinton & John McCain) but most of Obama’s money has come from everyday Americans who did not donate the maximum ($2300.)
