The latest overall delegate count is Obama 1850 & Clinton 1696.
2025 are needed to clinch the Democratic nomination. Obama will hit that target, at the latest, on May 20th when the Oregon primary is held. There is a possibility he could clinch the nomination previous to that if enough superdelegates endorse him prior to that date.
The question is no longer if Obama will win the nomination but when will he clinch the nomination.
Because of the inevitability of Obama’s nomination, many Democrats are urging Hillary Clinton to bow out gracefully now before she does any damage to the party’s chances in the general election. As all true Democrats want to defeat John McCain and four more years of George W. Bush’s failed policies this November.
