Barack Obama Is A Socialist

According to the McCain/Palin/Fox News campaign Barack Obama is a “socialist.”

What are they basing this claim on? The fact that Barack Obama wants to let the Bush tax cuts for the rich expire. The same Bush tax cuts that McCain himself used to be strongly against (before he was for them.)

The idea that a progressive tax code (ie the rich pay a higher percentage of taxes than do the poor and middle class) is “socialist” is pretty strange considering that the United States (and every other Western country) has had a progressive tax code for a very long time (ie since before John McCain was born.)

When you realize that the tax rates for the rich during an Obama admin. would actually be no higher than they were under Bill Clinton or Ronald Reagan you understand that by John McCain’s insane definition of “socialist” Bill Clinton and yes, RONALD REAGAN, are “socialists” too. Ask yourself: Do you think Ronald Reagan was a socialist? By John McCain’s definition Ronald Reagan was a socialist.

Are you starting to get the picture here? This is just the latest in a long stretch of dishonest smears from the McCain/Palin/Fox News campaign. There is absolutely no merit to the “socialist” claim.

And please remember that there’s something else the GOP used to deride as “socialist” when it was introduced: MEDICARE. In fact by most definitions (certainly by the expanded definition of McCain/Palin/Fox News) both Social Security & Medicare are socialist programs. Does that mean McCain/Palin are against Medicare & Social Security?

John McCain Is A Socialist
