CBS/NY Times Poll: Obama 53%, McCain 39%

The new CBS/NY Times poll has Barack Obama ahead of John McCain nationally by a big margin: 53% to 39%. While this is likely to be somewhat of an outlier as it’s the largest lead Obama has in any national poll it should be noted that Obama also has a double digit lead in six other national polls.

DailyKos/Research 2000: Obama 52%, McCain 41%
Gallup: Obama 53%, McCain 43%
Battleground: Obama 53%, McCain 40%
Democracy Corps: Obama 50%, McCain 40%
ABC/Washington Post: Obama 53%, Obama 43%
Newsweek: Obama 52%, Obama 41%

He’s also got a +9% margin in the latest Ipsos/McClatchy and LA Times/Bloomberg polls.

The Pollster.com average of all national polls is Obama 51%, McCain 42%.

It’s clear that leading up to tonight’s 3rd and final debate Barack Obama has a commanding national lead.

Perhaps even more exciting than the national poll numbers for Obama supporters is Obama’s domination among early voters in New Mexico, Ohio, Georgia, Iowa, and North Carolina according to SurveyUSA.
