Clinton Waiting For Obama’s Assassination?

Hillary Clinton’s perplexing comments regarding Robert Kennedy’s assassination today have shocked many Democrats.

She seemed to insinuate that a reason for her to stay in the Democratic nomination process (despite having no chance at winning) is that Barack Obama may be assassinated.

The argument she was trying to make was that because Democratic races had gone into June in the past (like when Robert Kennedy was assassinated in June) there should be no problem with the race going into June this year. The problem with this argument like all of Clinton’s arguments lately (like her ridiculous claim that she is the “popular vote leader) is that it is entirely misleading.

In June of 1968 there were still major states such as New York left to vote and it was still unknown who the Democratic nominee would be. The primary schedule was entirely different! This year there are only two states remaining (South Dakota & Montana) and it is impossible for them to have any real effect on the outcome as Obama is already guaranteed to be the elected delegate winner.

In fact the primaries were moved up earlier in the year precisely so the nominee would be known earlier so that the party could begin concentrating on the general election! The really ironic thing about it is that the Clinton campaign fully supported the front loaded primary scheduling as they believed it’d make it easier for them to wrap up the nomination early.

Perhaps most disturbing is that this is not the first time Clinton has made such a reference to Robert Kennedy’s 1968 assassination (he was assassinated during the heat of battle for the ’68 Democratic nomination.) According to this Time article she made similar remarks in March as well.
