Democratic Party Up In Generic Ballot

For the second straight week Gallup has the Democratic Party up in the “generic ballot” House poll by at least four points (48% to 44% this week.) This is a reversal of fortunes from early June when the Republicans held a 6 point lead.

While this is good news for the Democratic Party, it should be noted that a 4 point lead in the generic House ballot still points to significant midterm losses – just not as many as the Republicans are hoping for and almost certainly not enough to give the majority back to the GOP.

That said, it’s still a long way until November no matter how you look at it.

  1. This is a very tricky time for both parties as each have had their fair share of bad events. Som more than others granted and in my opinion I am more of a democrat voter than republican. However, what with the Gulf of Mexico oil spill disaster, which will go on for a long time in my opinion, I will not be surprised if the democrats have lost a few voters there. We shall see in November…
