Democrats Take Generic House Ballot Lead

For the first time since November 2009 the TPM poll tracker has the Democratic Party ahead of the Republican Party in the generic House ballot.

The most recent CNN poll actually has the Democrats out in front by 4% points (50% to 46%.) This is a huge reversal from the big wins the GOP got across the country in 2010.

This indicates that the average American voter is responding very negatively the fact that the new Republican majority in the House voted to eliminate Medicare (and replace it with a “Medicare in Name Only” privatization plan.)

Only 4 House Republicans voted against Medicare ending budget, while 235 Republicans voted for it. Not a single Democrat voted to end Medicare, so the Republican Party owns this horrible plan completely.

The Republican Medicare ending budget does more than just end Medicare; it also cuts Medicaid substantially and gives even more tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires. It’s truly Robin Hood in reverse.

The Republicans have also been childishly threatening not to raise the debt ceiling (which would undoubtedly bring huge economic turmoil to the US and the world.)

  1. Thankfully… We have to get the Republicans out of the House. They are just doing so much damage to this country right now. The elections of last November really have hindered our progress … and I’m scared to think of how much more damage the GOP can do over the next year and a half.
