Final Zogby Polls: Obama By 14% In NC & 2% In Indiana
By ThePresidentialCandidates.US on May 6, 2008 in Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton
Many democrats are crossing their fingers that the Democratic nomination battle will finally be over after today’s voting. A sweep by Obama would all but force Clinton out of the race.
Obama’s 51% to 37% lead in the North Carolina Zogby poll means he has a good shot at besting Clinton’s win in Pennsylvania where she won by 9%.
Obama’s 45% to 43% lead in Indiana means the state is way too close to call and some additional factors make Clinton favored despite Obama’s lead.
One such factor is Rush Limbaugh’s “operation chaos” which is encouraging Republicans to vote for Clinton today in the open Indiana primary just to extend the nomination battle further. Another factor is the new law in Indiana which requires an ID to vote. It’s unclear how that law will effect today’s election but most assume it will hurt Obama more than Clinton. And a third is reports that a higher percentage of voters have been expunged in Indiana districts where Obama should have a big advantage.
If I had to predict, I think Clinton will win Indiana today but probably by a margin of less than 5%.
