Fringe Clinton Sites Represent A Small Minority Of Democrats
By ThePresidentialCandidates.US on Jun 11, 2008 in Hillary Clinton
Fringe websites like NoQuarterUSA.net and HillaryIs44.org appear to be continuing on in some sort of alternate reality where the Democratic primary election is still going on. They continue to blast the presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama (quite unconvincingly) and they sometimes even offer praise for John McCain (yes the same John McCain that says bringing home troops from Iraq is “not too important” and that Dick Cheney may serve in his administration.)
These fringe websites have caused some Democrats to worry about Democratic unity heading into the general election, but the fact is that these websites really only have a few hundred members (at most) and represent a very small minority of Democrats. Obviously no thinking Democrat who cares about the future of this country would vote for John McCain over Barack Obama. It’s truly unthinkable considering that McCain represents the opposite of Hillary Clinton on all important issues. Only a very mentally unstable person would even consider such a thing.
It’s actually quite offensive to the female supporters of Hillary Clinton to assume that they would be so “hysterical” to vote against their best interests just because their candidate lost. Does anyone assume that male supporters of John Edwards would do something that stupid? No, of course not. So why would we assume that Hillary Clinton’s female supporters would vote against their own best interests just out of “spite.” Isn’t that actually a very sexist idea? To assume that females will vote with emotion rather than with reason? I think it is. And I do not believe that any significant portion of Hillary Clinton’s female supporters are that stupid. I respect their ability to think rationally and to vote for the candidate who agrees with Clinton on 95% of the issues (Barack Obama) rather than the one who disagrees with Clinton on 95% of the issues (John McCain.)
Rasmussen’s recent Washington state poll is a clear sign that Democrats are uniting around Barack Obama and that these fringe “Clinton or no one” groups are of no real statistical significance. There will always be some small percentage of “tinfoil hat” people in any election and that’s exactly how Clinton supporters who refuse to vote for Obama should be considered. These are people who have lost all right to be taken seriously as thinking adults.
That recent Washington state poll gives Barack Obama a 17% lead over John McCain, and most importantly it gives Obama an 89% to 7% lead among Democrats.

Thanks, this analysis nails it! However, as much as I’d like to believe what you’re saying is completely true, there’s still a part of me that sees this new PUMA movement, and wonders how big it is.
Anyway, by november, this movement will be a very, very small faction.

Look at the polling numbers – Obama is pulling ahead of McCain since Clinton’s endorsement. Sure there are some Clinton supporters who acting crazy – but they will come to terms with her loss eventually. The final % of Clinton supporters who are going to be willing to vote against their own best interests (ie for McCain) will be very low by November.
