Screw Bi-Partisanship, We Need Real Health Care Reform

I’m really tired of hearing about “bi-partisanship.” When one party wants to do nothing but kill health care reform (the Republicans) then there’s no need to even consider their input. The Democrats focus should be on fixing our horrible health care system, not on playing politics. It’s clear that any health care reform that doesn’t include the public option is a sham. I’m sure there are many voters who will just stay home rather than vote for candidates who promised health care reform and couldn’t deliver (and includes President Obama himself.)
(1) Do you really think the US health care system is better than the UK health care system? There’s no factual basis behind such a claim. The US system costs twice as much but delivers less quality care. People are living longer in the UK and less babies are dying. Read this article on UK vs. US health care written by a Brit.
(2) Watch Dennis Kucinich sets Dr. David Gratzer straight on single payer health care. Single payer is a true universal health care system that we should be implementing now. The “public option” is a compromise which allows the current system to work with a government system so that those who want to keep their current private insurance can do so.
(3) 76% of Americans support a public option. It’s time to get mad at those standing in the way of reforming our health care system. Anyone who stands in the way of the public option (whether Republican or Democrat) stands for private health care profits over the health of the American people. That is not a morally acceptable position. Read the article
(4) So called “Blue Dog Democrats” (also known as “basically Republicans”) are standing in the way of the public option. They are standing on the side of the health insurance companies over the health of the American people. They must know that they will lose all Democratic support next time around if they don’t start working for the American people instead of for the insurance companies. Forget about so called “bi-partisanship,” that’s nothing but an excuse not to get what needs to be done, done. The Republicans lost the elections. You didn’t see the Republicans giving a crap about “bi-partisanship” when they were in power! Read the article.
