Herbert Hoover – Republican.
Hoover was the 31st US president and he served from 1929 to 1933.
He was elected in 1928 in a victory over Democrat Al Smith. He was defeated for re-election in the midst of the Great Depression in 1932 by Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt.
