Yankee Doodle Dandy is a perfect song for these idiots…The song Yankee Doodle Dandy was originally by British military officers to mock the disheveled, disorganized colonial “Yankees”, the term Yankee began as a negative term making fun of Americans with whom they served in the French and Indian War.As a term ,Doodle first appeared in the early seventeenth century, and derives from the Low German dudel or dödel, meaning “FOOL” or “SIMPLETON”. The Macaroni wig was an extreme fashion in the 1770s . “Macaroni” refers to Italian and French fashion, which the colonist thought he could approximate by sticking a feather in his outdated or bizarre, by European standards, cap and became contemporary slang for foppishness. A “Dandy” has always been a British term for a man who spends his income on clothes in order to “appear above his station.”
