John Edwards Endorsing Barack Obama
By ThePresidentialCandidates.US on May 14, 2008 in Barack Obama, John Edwards
According to CNN, John Edwards is going to endorse Barack Obama today in Grand Rapids, Michigan where Obama is campaigning.
Michigan, of course, broke DNC rules by holding it’s primary earlier than it was supposed to. Clinton & Obama agreed not to campaign there or to have the votes in the state count, although Clinton changed her position on that after it was clear she was losing. Obama & Edwards were not even on the ballot in Michigan as Clinton ran largely unopposed (only Clinton and smaller name candidates like Dennis Kucinich were on the ballot.) It is clear that Clinton would not be raising an issue about Michigan or Florida’s votes being counted if she were not behind.
Due to having no true election there, Michigan is one of only two states (the other being Florida of course) where Obama has not set up any significant organization which can be used for the general election. He is now attempting to make up for that by campaigning in the state now that it has become clear he will be the Democratic nominee. This indicates that with his insurmountable lead in delegates (which select the Democratic nominee) Obama is looking ahead to his upcoming general election contest with McCain. Which is shaping up to be a battle of change vs. the status quo (McCain = 3rd Bush term.)
Although she has no chance of winning the nomination, Hillary Clinton does continue her campaign and will compete in next Tuesday’s contests in Kentucky & Oregon. She is likely to win Kentucky by a wide margin. Obama is expected to win Oregon. Obama will likely attain the amount of delegates needed to win the nomination next Tuesday.

I’ll say pity to Hillary. Obama is surely will get all the delegates he need. It would not be a surprise to me if he’s going to win this elections. He’s going to make history out of him.

Still, racism and elitism will still continue to trouble Obama’s campaigning. If he can really overcome this hurdle, then let him be the next President!
