John McCain Wins Florida (Rudy Out?)
By ThePresidentialCandidates.US on Jan 29, 2008 in John McCain, Rudy Giuliani
John McCain beat Mitt Romney in the battle for Florida on the Republican side today. With 98% of the precincts having reported their vote totals, McCain has 36% of the vote and Romney has 31%. Rudy Giuliani, who placed all of his hopes on Florida, is in a distant 3rd place with 15% of the vote.
There are reports that with Rudy Giuliani’s skip the early states strategy having officially failed, he will be dropping out of the race and endorsing the front runner John McCain. This is bad news for the other remaining Republicans Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, & Mike Huckabee as the worst thing for them is the prospect of McCain pulling away from the field and effectively ending their campaigns.
The Democrats didn’t campaign in Florida due to the delegates not being counted there because of Florida’s move up in the election season. Despite that, Florida Democrats still voted today and Hillary Clinton came in first place with 50% of the vote (with 98% of the precincts reporting.) Barack Obama had 33% of the vote and John Edwards had 14%.
