Latest Dem. Polls Evidence Of Continued Momentum For Obama

The latest Reuters/CSpan/Zogby polls have Barack Obama ahead of Hillary Clinton 48% to 42% in Texas and Clinton ahead of Obama 44% to 42% in Ohio. Both numbers are striking because it was not long ago that Clinton held large leads in both states.

Many believe a victory in Texas by Obama would all but end the Clinton campaign. If Obama can win both Texas & Ohio then it would be very difficult for the Clinton campaign to reasonably move on.

I would expect Clinton to drop out if she loses either Texas or Ohio and would be a bit shocked if she didn’t drop out if they lost both Texas & Ohio.

Vermont & Rhode Island also hold contests on March 4th but they have been largely overlooked since they are smaller states. Obama is expected to win Vermont in a landslide while Clinton has a strong lead in Rhode Island in the latest polls there.

It’s beginning to look likely that Rhode Island may be Clinton’s only victory on March 4th. But it’s hard to see her trumpeting a win in Rhode Island and pretending that a win there is reason to continue her campaign if Obama wins the big prizes of Texas & Ohio. Such a scenario would have Obama winning 14 of the past 15 contests altogether.

  1. I am not impressed with many things about Barack Obama. What I am impressed with most is the fact that he listens. He LISTENS to Americans. He will continue to do so. People follow him. We need some real leadership.
No matter of experience can prepare you for the white house, unless you are already there. What is most important is listening and leadership.
That is why Barack Obama has shown WISDOM and clarity in his judegments.
