Latest Georgia Poll: McCain 46%, Obama 44%, Barr 4%
By ThePresidentialCandidates.US on Jul 4, 2008 in Barack Obama, Bob Barr, John McCain
The latest poll in Georgia has John McCain ahead of Obama by only 2% with Libertarian Bob Barr picking up a significant 4%. It looks like if Barr (who represented Georgia as a congressman) can gain traction with his campaign he could definitely end up swinging Georgia from McCain to Obama.
Georgia is supposed to be a deeply red state which is why it must be very concerning for McCain that the race is so close there. Bush won Georgia by 17% in 2004.
In a relevant comparison, Obama looks to be running away with huge leads in deep blue states like New York & Massachusetts.
The latest poll in New York gives Obama a huge 60% to 29% lead over McCain and the latest poll in Massachusetts has Obama ahead 53% to 33%.
John Kerry won New York by 18% & his home state of Massachusetts by 25% in 2004.
Kerry won New York by 18% and lost Georgia by 17%. Obama is ahead of those numbers by 13% in New York and 15% in Georgia. He is behind by 5% in Massachusetts but of course that’s not comparable with it being Kerry’s home state.
In case you are wondering about Obama’s home state; Kerry won Illinois by 10% in 2004 & Obama is up by 29% in the latest poll there.
