McCain, Romney, Huckabee, & Giuliani All Think Iraq War Was A Good Idea!

At last night’s MSNBC Republican debate John McCain, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, and Rudy Giuliani all said that they think the Iraq war was a good idea and worth the thousands of lives and billions of dollars it has cost this country.

How could anyone think that any of these candidates are “electable” in the general election when the Iraq war is overwhelmingly unpopular? How could anyone support a candidate who has such bad judgment? How could any of these candidates even pretend they are a candidate of “change” when it’s clear they support George W. Bush’s failed foreign policy?

Watch (and listen to) their responses on the Iraq war question last night:

There was one exception to the horrible judgment and lying (like the McCain saying that “it’s clear that Saddam Hussein was intent on acquiring WMDs”) displayed by Republicans last night: Ron Paul. He is the only Republican candidate who had the foresight to know that the war in Iraq was wrong from the start and who still knows it’s wrong now. Notice that he’s the only candidate to receive any cheers for his response? That’s because he’s the only candidate whose thinking on the Iraq war makes any sense to the American people.

Think about the last thing he said: “We started that war and we should never be a country that starts wars needlessly.” Think about that. Do you really want to be in a country that STARTS wars? We should only use war as defense. When you start wars you have no moral leg to stand on.
