National Polls Getting Close
By ThePresidentialCandidates.US on Jul 17, 2008 in Barack Obama, John McCain
The latest national polls released from Gallup & Rasmussen show the race between Barack Obama & John McCain getting very close. In fact the Rasmussen poll has the race tied at 46% each. Gallup has Obama ahead 46% to 44%.
While this is bad news for the Obama campaign, it should be pointed out that no major national poll has had John McCain actually ahead in over a month. Also worth noting is that other recent national polls such as the CBS News/NY Times poll (which has Obama ahead by 6%), the Reuters/Zogby poll (which has Obama ahead by 7%), and the Quinnipiac poll (which has Obama ahead by 9%) give Obama a pretty strong advantage.
Which polls are right? It’s hard to tell. When you average them altogether as RealClearPolitics.com does, Obama is ahead by 4.1%
