NORML Sets Fox News Straight On Marijuana

NORML takes down a Fox “News” anti marijuana propaganda piece point by point: CLICK HERE to read it on their website.

It’s unbelievable to me that in 2009 people are still running with this kind of “reefer madness” nonsense. Marijuana is far less harmful than cigarettes and alcohol but do you see Fox “News” calling for them to be made illegal?

It’s time to legalize marijuana. Well, it’s actually far past time to legalize marijuana. But better late than never.

Speaking of legalizing marijuana; Ron Paul & Barney Frank have introduced new legislation in the House which would legalize the possession of up to three oz of marijuana at the federal level. Now obviously this legislation doesn’t go far enough. There shouldn’t be any limits on how much marijuana someone should be able to possess and there should be no limits on growing marijuana on your own property. On the other hand, regulations on the sale of marijuana make a reasonable amount of sense (just like there are regulations on the sale of everything else.)

That being said, it’s a good start. And I highly recommend that you contact your local congressman and let them know you want them to support this bill.

  1. Did Fox get the actual facts of marijuana use sent to them, or are they going to continue to lie? Are they going to re recheck their facts? Or maby even say wer’e sorry. I am waiting but not holding my breath.

  2. I have mixed feelings about this. Marijuana is different from cigarettes in that they make someone high. This could add to the DUI’s that are already a huge problem.

  3. Jeanine - so getting high is worse than dying? Cigarettes kill people. I don’t see how you can really argue that getting killed by what are smoking is somehow better than getting high.

Furthermore alcohol is legal and it is far more intoxicating than marijuana. In fact there’s plenty of evidence that those who are high on marijuana are far superior drivers to those who are drunk - it’s likely that more marijuana smoking (if coupled with less alcohol drinking) would actually lead to less substance abuse related car accidents.
