Obama: 61% Approval

Obama appears to be bouncing back once again with his approval rating at 61% as of today.

He had slipped to as low as 56% (polling released July 8th.)

Perhaps this recovery in the President’s popularity is because of Obama’s more forceful talk on health care reform recently?

Everyone who is really informed on the health care issue (and who doesn’t have a rooting interest in private health insurance profits) knows that we need a complete overhaul of our current system (which is rated as one of the worst in the western world by the WHO despite the fact that the US spends more money on health care than any other country int he world.)

We need (at the least) a public option included in health care reform. The best case scenario is a single payer health care system like most of the rest of the civilized world has (and which has been proven far more effective than our system over and over again) but the public option seems like a somewhat reasonable compromise. Anything less than that is unacceptable. Anything less than that is “business as usual.”

Want to know who is fighting against health care reform? Bill Kristol. He was also one of the loudest voices supporting the war in Iraq.

Want to know why all of those speaking against health care reform make the same “points” over and over again? Because they’re all reading from the same playbook.

  1. Check the headlines on CNN to see if there’s a need for “health care reform.” This is a very important– and tremendously timely– issue indeed.
