Obama Approval: 60%

While there have been some signs of Obama’s approval rating dropping this month, it has now recovered and is at 60% as of today.

Why does Obama’s approval rating matter so far away from the 2012 election? Well as far as his re-election in ’12, I don’t think it means much because so much can happen in three years, what’s going on now will mostly be long forgotten by the 2012 campaign.

But it does matter as far as his “political capital” to push for important reform (most obviously the “public option.”) His popularity will also be influential on next year’s races in the House & Senate.
