Obama Speaks In Iowa Tonight
By ThePresidentialCandidates.US on May 20, 2008 in Barack Obama
Obama started off his journey to the 2008 Democratic nomination on January 3rd by winning the Iowa caucuses. Tonight he clinched the pledged delegate victory with his win in the Oregon primary.
Obama returned to Iowa to speak tonight on this occasion:
With Obama now the pledged delegate winner (meaning that no matter what happens in the remaining contests, Obama has won a majority of the pledged delegates) the only way he can lose the nomination is for the superdelegates to overturn the elected delegates victory. That seems incredibly unlikely considering Obama now leads Clinton by 14% in the latest national poll of Democrats (Gallup.)
While it has been a close election, it’s clear that Obama is now the winner. The question is when will Clinton admit her defeat?
