Obama Up By 8% In Michigan
By ThePresidentialCandidates.US on Jul 14, 2008 in Barack Obama, John McCain
The latest Michigan Rasmussen poll has Barack Obama ahead of John McCain 47% to 39% in the state. Michigan has been considered a possible opening for the Republicans due to problems with the Michigan primary (where Obama wasn’t even on the ballot.) But it appears that the Democrats in the state have “unified” behind their nominee.
While Obama still appears to have strong numbers state by state (as evidenced by this Michigan poll) his overall national numbers in the Gallup & Rasmussen polls have been dropping. Obama is now up by 3% in the latest Gallup national poll and just 1% in the Rasmussen poll.
This drop may be fallout from the FISA situation which has angered many of Obama’s supporters. But it’s likely that these supporters will come back to the fold when they realize there is no viable alternative (sorry Bob Barr & Ralph Nader.) While many are upset with Obama’s vote on FISA, McCain didn’t even bother to show up to vote on it.
Obama has been seen as moving right since he has wrapped up the nomination. This is, of course, upsetting many of his liberal supporters. But it should also make it very difficult for McCain to make inroads against him among the independents and disgruntled Republicans who’ll be voting for Obama.
