President-Elect Barack Obama

As I’m sure you are well aware, Democrat Barack Obama won the election yesterday handily both in the popular vote and in the electoral college.

The numbers are not yet final as we are still waiting to find out who won Missouri (McCain has a small lead) and North Carolina (Obama has a small lead.) Plus there are a number of votes left to be counted in states such as California, Oregon, Colorado, & Washington where the outcome is not in question (Obama won each of them easily) but those extra votes will be added to the overall popular vote total (as of now Obama is up 52% to 46%.)

There is also some question about Georgia. While the major networks have called it for McCain, DailyKos is waiting on it because there’s some question to whether all of the early ballots (which should be heavily in Obama’s favor) have been counted.

Even though there are certainly still millions of votes to be counted and added to the total, Barack Obama has already set a new record for the most total votes received in a US Presidential election with nearly 63 million votes nationwide.

I’ll be updating with final results when they come in and I’ll be doing a comparison of the final poll #s in each of the states with the actual results to answer the question of how accurate the polls really were?

I’ll also take a very preliminary look at 2012 before putting this site on hiatus until the 2012 election heats up at which point it will spring back to life!

For now I’ll leave you with President-Elect Barack Obama’s speech last night in Chicago:

  1. Hopefully he will appoint a solid leader as energy czar, get away from clean coal, and focus on truly renewable and cleaner energy sources.
