President Obama Has 68% Approval
By ThePresidentialCandidates.US on Jan 24, 2009 in Barack Obama
Gallup has released their first approval ratings for new President Barack Obama and they are very high: 68%.
Of the previous 8 newly elected Presidents only John F. Kennedy started off with a higher approval rating (72%.)
Obama’s 68% approval rating is particularly high in contrast to the initial approval ratings of the last four newly elected Presidents:
Ronald Reagan in 1981: 51%
George HW Bush in 1989: 51%
Bill Clinton in 1993: 58%
George W Bush in 2001: 57%

Reagan’s 51% number belies the myth that Reagan was always some super popular President. He didn’t end his presidency with particularly high approval ratings either.

This means that, not only was Obama’s election statistically underwhelming, his initial approval rating is average as well – even with the MSM adulation. He’s just another politician. A 68% in any class amounts to a D+ grade, at best. He is no more sublime than any other president we’ve ever had.
So when you hear someone overstating Obama’s victory margin as a means for arguing in support of a liberal mandate, see it as the manipulative tactic it is. They merely want you to think that everyone agrees with them and that there must be something wrong with you if you’re not in the Obama fan club. The nearly 60 million people who voted for John McCain constitute the largest dissenting voter population in American history. Do not mistake Obama’s statistically run of the mill victory and approval rating as a mandate for his liberal agenda.
You can find statistical support for my claims here:

That’s ridiculous Seth. A 68% approval rating is not the same thing as getting 68% on a test, particularly not in a heavily partisan two party system like we have here in the United States. Obama’s 68% is far better than any of the last four incoming Presidents and Obama did win a decisive victory over John McCain, obviously a far more decisive victory than W ever had.
You are living in some serious denial there, buddy.
