President Obama Refutes Lies About Health Care Reform

Facts About Health Care Reform

#1 Health care reform will NOT cover illegal immigrants.

#2 Abortions will NOT be funded by health care reform.

#3 There are NO “death panels.”

#4 There will be NO “government takeover” of health care.

#5 If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.

#6 If you like your private health insurance plan you can keep your plan.

#7 The “Public Option” is a CHOICE. You can keep your private health insurance if you want. It’s designed to create competition for the private health insurance companies so they cannot continue to rip off customers the way they are now.

#8 Health care reform will give those who do not have health care coverage affordable quality health care. With the current system over 10,000 Americans die due to lack of coverage every year. This is obviously a moral issue. Those against health care reform are OK with many thousands of Americans dying every year and doing absolutely nothing about it. WWJD?

#9 Health care reform will stop private health insurance companies from dropping customers who get seriously sick or injured as they commonly do now. 50% of those who get seriously sick or injured have their coverage cut by their private insurance company in order for that insurance company to increase profits. These are the real “death panels” and they are based on insurance company profit. Again this is an obvious moral issue. Are you OK with people’s private health insurance being dropped just so insurance companies can make more money?

#10 Health care reform will cap “out of pocket” expenses for those with private health insurance. This will go a long way towards curbing the huge problem with bankruptcies due to medical expenses in the US. Almost one million Americans go bankrupt due to medical expenses every year and 75% of those had/have private health insurance. What’s the point of insurance that doesn’t stop you from going bankrupt?

#11 Health care reform will stop private health insurance companies from discriminating against those with “pre-existing conditions.” This is truly a matter of civil rights. Sick people should be able to get health care coverage just like everyone else.

#12 Health care reform will focus health care more on “preventative care” which will help to keep Americans healthier so they live longer. Our current health care system is an absolute failure in this aspect as the US ranks #50 in life expectancy in the world. This focus on preventative care will also help to reduce overall health care costs.
