President Obama’s Stimulus Plan Has Saved or Created About 1.6 Million Jobs

As bad as the unemployment problem in the US is right now, it’d probably be at least 1.6 million jobs worse if McCain/Palin had won last November.

The Republican approach to fixing economic problems is basically this: “Do nothing and eventually the market will correct itself.” This is exactly what Republican Herbert Hoover did from 1929 through 1932. To say it didn’t work would be an understatement. Democratic President Franklin D. Roosevelt was able to turn the country around with this “New Deal.”

And since people so closely associated the Great Depression with the Republicans, they had little hope of scuttling FDR’s plans. Unfortunately these days people have a short memory and it’s like some folks have already forgotten that our current economic woes came to be under the “leadership” of George W. Bush and company.

The truth is, as bad as things are now, they’d be a lot worse with a Republican President. Look at this chart on the private sector job creation under Democratic and Republican Presidents over the last 50 years. The pattern is obvious, Democratic Presidents are better for the economy.

Obama’s approach has already saved or created over one million jobs and because of his leadership this country is headed in the right direction. With McCain/Palin in the White House unemployment would likely be over 12% by now (it’s currently at 10%.)

  2. Whatever Obama is doing can be regarded right only in US, but that is not correct for the overall trade relations with countries like India and China.

It’s a global economy now and the subprime taught that like a boomerang it can come back to US only.

  4. I live out here in the middle of all this mess, you’ll never convince me or anyone else that President Obama’s stimulus has created anything except a financial mess for our Children and future grand children. How sad. My Husband hasn’t had a steady job in five years now, He was let go from a job he had had for 15 years, unfortunately, It was at a dealership. They were cutting back. Please tell us where are all these so called jobs are at.

  6. Cindy Venney - Your husband lost his job 5 years ago, how is that Obama’s fault?

It sounds to me like you’re a “true believer” - the type of person who doesn’t care about what’s actually happening in reality. You just believe whatever your side (the tea party nuts it seems from what you’ve written) tells you to believe.

Get informed, stop believing all of those lies.

  7. Lol oh yeah guys the stimulous sure has saved jobs… Like the ones that were in the middle of the ocean or the ones they said saved 200 jobs in a town that had less then 100 people. I’m an independent and most of us see Gibs not answering questions and Obama lying.By the way Obama has more czars then russia has ever had in its history put together.

  8. Your President Obama is actively working with us in Russia a lot of respect for him, unlike the previous president. In addition, he is young, and this fact is not without significance in the elections - many expect from the young president some useful innovations, productive work. I think so, not only in the U.S., but also in other countries too.

  9. patrick, yet he’s had less “czars” than George W. Bush.

stop getting your nonsense from Fox “News” and start actually learning something about the world. perhaps then you won’t be so easily manipulated?
