Ron Paul is holding a 3 day event called “Rally for the Republican” in Minneapolis (also the home of the Republican convention which Paul was not invited to despite his strong showing in the primaries) in late August.
The response to the rally has been so strong that they’ve had to move it to a larger arena. It will now take place at The Target which can hold as many as 18,000 people. It’s the home of the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves.
“The Rally for the Republic will send a powerful, positive message to the Republican Party that there is an army of grassroots activists across the country ready to work with them if steer back to their traditions of limited government and personal liberty,” said Campaign for Liberty spokesman Jesse Benton.
This convention is seen as an alternative to the Republican convention. Ron Paul supporters see John McCain as a continuation of the failed neocon policies of George W. Bush. They see Ron Paul as the true conservative alternative.
