Schwarzeneggar Says McCain Is “Blowing Smoke”

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger says that politicians that say ending the ban on offshore drilling will lower gas prices are “blowing smoke.”

Of course, the most prominent politician suggesting ending the ban on offshore drilling is the presumptive Republican nominee for President, John McCain. It seems clear that McCain’s offshore drilling pandering is similar to his gas tax holiday pandering. He wants voters to believe he’s actually going to do something about gas prices when it’s clear he has no plans of doing anything significant.

Schwarzeneggar’s quote: “Anyone who tells you this will lower our gas prices anytime soon is blowing smoke.”

Although Schwarzenegger’s spokesman denied that he was speaking about McCain, he did make clear that Schwarzenegger does not believe in offshore drilling and is firmly opposed to McCain’s view on the subject.
