Watch Sicko to get an understanding of what’s going with health care in the US. Our health care system is broken because of the corrupting influence of the private health insurance companies’ enormous power. Their only motive is profit, not health care.

Yes, there are many countries all around the world who have a far better health care system than we do (the US’s health care system is ranked #37 by the WHO.) Stop listening to the lies about “socialized medicine” coming from the private health insurance industry and their bought off politician mouth pieces. They are spending over a million dollars a day buying off politicians and spreading their lies.

And before you discount this movie (most likely due to some lies spread about it by the health insurance industry) watch it for yourself. In this interview a former health insurance PR man tells the truth: The health insurance industry did everything they could to discredit Sicko.

Why? Because Sicko tells the truth about how screwed up our health care system is (and how much better the alternatives work) and they don’t want people to know about that. They don’t want people to know that the health insurance industry routinely drops people from their coverage when they need it most. They don’t want people to know that the US spends far more money for lesser results.

When insurance company apologists say their old line “you don’t want a bureaucrat between you and your doctor” remember that right now those with private health insurance have something much worse standing between you and your doctor: A CEO with nothing but dollar signs in their eyes. They will do anything and everything they can to drop you from your coverage as soon as you start costing them money (ie: as soon as you get sick.)
