Support Health Care Reform By Boycotting Whole Foods

The CEO of Whole Foods, John Mackey, wrote an anti health reform editorial in the Wall Street Journal. In the article he refers to health care reform as “ObamaCare,” quotes Margaret Thatcher, and cites Investor’s Business Daily as a source. The same IBD that said Stephen Hawking would be dead if he lived in the UK (he, of course, does live in the UK.) That should give you a pretty good idea of where he’s coming from.

He then lists a bunch of “solutions” to the problems with the health care system. But his “solutions” are really nothing but a bunch of right wing talking points (from the perspective of saving corporations money, not improving people’s actual health care coverage.) All of the usual bull crap about how deregulation is the answer. We, of course, already have the most deregulated health care system in the world. That’s what’s wrong with. His “solution” would make the problem much worse.

Because of this editorial many who strongly support health care reform are calling for a boycott of Whole Foods as a way of getting the message out that there are a whole lot of Americans who feel we need health care reform (including The Public Option) and we need it now.

What Can You Do?

#1 Never shop at Whole Foods again. I know many of you may rely upon Whole Foods but there are alternatives. Perhaps this is the time to start shopping at a local market? That will help your local economy far more than shopping at a big corporate shopping mart like Whole Foods.

#2 Tell all of your friends not to shop at Whole Foods anymore. This boycott will only be successful if many people take part.

#3 If you own Whole Foods stock, sell it.
