The Daily Show Calls Out Fox News On Their Biased Obama Coverage
By ThePresidentialCandidates.US on Apr 9, 2010 in Barack Obama
Just watch this video.
Jon Stewart and the folks at the The Daily Show show how absurd the Fox News/Sarah Palin/Newt Gingrich response to President Obama’s new treaty with Russia to reduce nuclear weapons really is.
They are basically freaking out about something that their own hero (Ronald Reagan) did in the 1980s while simultaneously misrepresenting both what Obama’s new treaty does and what Reagan did in the past. It’s ridiculous.
It’s also important to note that each of the three times that such a treaty came up for a vote in the Senate before (when Republican Presidents Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II signed similar treaties) that it passed by an overwhelming margin with bipartisan support (93 to 5 in ’88, 92 to 6 in ’92, and 95 to 0 in ’03.)
Anything less than a similar margin this time would prove that the Republican party is simply saying “no” to Obama for political reasons. There’s no rational reason for them to be against this treaty. If they don’t vote for it then they are putting politics far ahead of country (remember that old slogan “Country First” ??? It turns out nothing could be further from the truth for Republicans.)
