The Disturbing Truth About Torture
By ThePresidentialCandidates.US on May 16, 2009 in Barack Obama
The disturbing truth is that the Bush/Cheney admin wasn’t torturing detainees to get intelligence to protect the country (torture has never been proven to be effective at getting good information) but instead they were torturing them to try to get them to give a (false) confession of some link between 9/11 and Iraq.
In light of this, the entire charade of Dick Cheney going around talking about how torture works is even crazier than it seems. Torture was never meant to “work” it was used not to get good information, but to get bad information. That’s what torture has always been used for. That’s why this whole debate is so flawed. This ridiculous premise that torture somehow protects anyone or that it can be used in extreme situations to get good info is flat out stupid. Torture doesn’t work. It’s only good for getting people to say whatever you want them to say (because they’ll say anything to get you to stop.) It’s only good for getting lies, not for getting the truth.
Consider this: John McCain was tortured in Vietnam so that he would create propaganda films (filled with lies.) That’s the scenario here. Again, please let this incredible fact sink into your mind, Bush/Cheney were pushing for torture to be used not to get information that could be used to protect America, but to get a confession of a nonexistent link between Iraq and 9/11 to be used as justification for the Iraq war.

Admin, do you watch The Young Turks on YouTube? This post reminds me of a few of their episodes..great post as usual.
I wish these republicans would put the water where their mouthes are and PROVE that waterboarding isn’t torture. It’s easily done, although illegal, but I’m tired of these crappy excuses to try to justify breaking international laws.

I have watched The Young Turks before (it’s a good program) but not recently. I think a lot of people are coming to similar conclusions right now because the facts are clear.
