There Were Over 800,000 People Arrested For Marijuana Related “Crimes” In The US In 2006
By ThePresidentialCandidates.US on May 27, 2009 in Barack Obama
In 2006, for the 4th consecutive year, a new record was set for the most people arrested for marijuana related “crimes” in the US with 829,625. This is a travesty of justice and a huge waste of money (over 10 billion dollars are spent every year enforcing marijuana laws.) It’s time to end the War on Drugs & release all nonviolent people from the prisons and move this country out of the dark ages.
Donate money to NORML if you want to do your part to change these obscene laws. I also encourage you to contact your congressman and your Senators about this issue.
And to President Obama; You were elected on the back of the younger generation and the younger generation feels very strongly that it is time to end the War on Drugs. Bring the change you promised. Do what’s right. It is not OK for so many innocent people to have their rights taken away for doing nothing but growing and/or smoking pot. Everyone knows that marijuana is far less dangerous than alcohol. So how can it make sense to throw people in jail for using marijuana while alcohol is perfectly legal? It makes no sense.
