Time Magazine: Obama Right, McCain Wrong

The McCain campaign has tried to use Barack Obama’s point that Americans could save more money on gas by pumping up their tires than they will with offshore drilling against him. The problem? Obama is 100% absolutely right.

Offshore drilling is not a solution to the energy problem. And neither is filling up your tires. But the truth is you will actually save far more money on gas by filling up your tires than you ever will (even in 30 years) with increased off shore drilling.

Even the Bush Admin. admits that expanded offshore drilling would only increase oil production by 1% by the year 2030. Read that again in case you missed it. Are you starting to understand what a non-issue offshore drilling is yet? It is absolutely NOT a solution to the energy problems facing America. The only reason that politicians like McCain who are in big oil’s back pocket want to expand offshore drilling is to help their oil buddies make even more profit.

The real solution to the energy problem is alternative energy and Barack Obama is the only candidate serious about investing in alternative energy. McCain’s offshore drilling plan is nothing but a scam.
