VIETNAM. VIETNAM. VIETNAM.
By ThePresidentialCandidates.US on Sep 3, 2008 in John McCain
Day 3 of the Republican Convention was all about John McCain’s service in Vietnam, bashing Barack Obama, and Sarah Palin (who of course talked about John McCain’s service in Vietnam & bashed Obama.)
What I find so interesting about this obsession with McCain’s Vietnam service is how the Republicans belittled John Kerry’s Vietnam service in 2004 while building up George W. Bush (who avoided Vietnam.) Does it get any more hypocritical? If Kerry’s Vietnam service wasn’t important in 2004 than certainly John McCain’s is not important in 2008.
McCain’s time as a POW has absolutely nothing to do with the issues that face America. It has nothing to do with the economy, it has nothing to do with health care, it has nothing to do with foreign policy. The Republican convention is remarkable for it’s lack of substance. They know that on the issues they (McCain/Palin) will continue the policies of the Bush admin over the next four years so they can’t talk about the issues.
So what about Palin’s speech? It was completely lacking in substance. It was all about three things:
1. Her family story. Who cares? Not me. What’s that have to do with anything?
2. McCain’s POW story. Yup, again. POW POW POW. This has nothing to do with the issues.
3. Baseless nasty attacks on Barack Obama. Most of the things she said about Obama were flat out false. And her tone was mocking and sarcastic. Anything but Presidential. Is this someone you want one 72 year old heart beat away from the Presidency?
NASTY. NASTY. NASTY.
And how about how nasty the Rudy Giuliani & Sarah Palin speeches were? Have you ever heard nastier more divisive speeches than those? It’s clear that McCain/Palin represent four more years of the same divisive politics of the Bush admin.
LIES. LIES. LIES.
Among the many lies told by the speakers tonight was the lie by Sarah Palin that she was against the “bridge to nowhere” when she was not. More on the LIES in the GOP speeches last night.
OBAMA CAMPAIGN RESPONSE TO PALIN’S SPEECH
“Well-delivered, but it was written by George Bush’s speechwriter and sounds exactly like the same divisive, partisan attacks we’ve heard from George Bush for the last eight years. If Gov. Palin and John McCain want to define ‘change’ as voting with George Bush 90 percent of the time, that’s their choice, but we don’t think the American people are ready to take a 10 percent chance on change.”
NO AGENDA
We haven’t heard anything from the Republicans on what John McCain and Sarah Palin are actually going to do (differently than George W. Bush & Dick Cheney have done over the last 8 years.) The McCain campaign desperately wants this election to be about anything other than the real issues. Will McCain talk about the issues tomorrow night or will it just be more baseless attacks against Barack Obama?
2008, Sarah Palin, Vice President

Amen!! Did even one person at the GOP convention mention the words “balanced budget” or “deficit reduction”? No!! McCain said “my economic policy is to create good paying jobs for Americans.” Hard to argue with that, but just what exactly is this policy? Not one specific; and no one else mentioned the economy. The last thing this country needs is to re-fight Viet Nam. Let’s fix today’s problems.

All us republicans are c-r-a-z-y - I mean stupid with a capital S. We all want inflation and recession and depression and corporations to do well and the country to fail and NO taxes to people making over 200K and higher taxes for people making 5K and no social security and 3 or 4 wars each year. Bush dad and Bush baby and Bush lied and they stole the election and blah blah blah blah. Do any of you actually realize how this sounds? How it really sounds? That is why FIFTY PERCENT of the country is not voting your way. Stop speaking in talking points. Try a cogent articulate argument without the dripping venom. It might get more attention.
