Wanda Sykes At The White House Correspondence Dinner
By ThePresidentialCandidates.US on May 9, 2009 in Barack Obama
Wanda Sykes was the comedian at the annual White House Correspondence Dinner tonight. She followed up President Obama’s comedy routine (you can watch Obama here) with some pretty “edgy” material. In fact I think she made quite a few members of the older generation quite a bit uncomfortable.
Her Rush Limbaugh joke in particular is probably going to royally piss off some folks. I loved it. She basically said Limbaugh is a treasonous drug addict.
I also appreciated her call out of Sean Hannity on wussing out after saying he was willing to be waterboarded for charity on his show a couple of weeks ago. He has since pretended like he never said it.
Sean Hannity defends waterboarding by saying that it’s not torture and he even said it was basically just getting your head dunked under water. If that’s all it is then why is he so afraid to go through with it?
I think he knows that it really is torture so he doesn’t want to go through with it because… well who the hell wants to get tortured? But it’s not only that, it’s also because he’s afraid that his entire brainwashed audience will find out that waterboarding really is torture and that the Bush admin is guilty of war crimes. Then maybe they’ll start questioning all the other lies he has told them over the years?
It’s funny that Sykes hit out at two of the lunatic fringe faces of the GOP (Limbaugh & Hannity.) But I wonder why she didn’t take a swipe at Glenn Beck? Compassion for the mentally ill perhaps?
This is Wanda Sykes’ routine (in two parts.)
Part 1
Part 2

“She basically said Limbaugh is a treasonous drug addict. ”
Which was uncalled for. Keeping in mind two things: A) The president himself admitted to doing drugs at one point; B) Wishing the presidencies policies will fail isn’t a one-side issue.
I don’t recall the left cheerleading for Bush to succeed for the past 8 years. In fact, I recall James Carville expressly saying he hoped Bush would fail. Dems did everything possible to make sure Bush’s policies got nowhere. But suddenly a righty saying the same thing is treasonous? I don’t think so.

It was not uncalled for. It was the truth which is why it’s so funny.
Comparing Obama’s use of marijuana (a drug which almost every American has used) to Limbaugh’s addiction to heavy narcotic like oxycontin is absurd. It also misses what makes it most humorous that Limbaugh is a drug addict. The hypocrisy of it! Limbaugh has long been one of these “tough on crime” pro war on drugs blowhards and it turned out that he a drug addict himself. That’s rich!
Wishing the “president’s policies would fail” is a one sided issue. It means he’s more invested in his BS ideology than he is in the success of the country. And Sykes was right on to compare him to Bin Laden because he has been wishing for the failure of the US for quite some time.
Comparing what people said about Bush to this is silly. With Bush it wasn’t “hoping the country would fail” it was WARNING that Bush was going to make the country fail and that’s exactly what he did. Get a grip.
